Previous investigations, prescriptions, symptoms or admissions may help to identify someone with undetected heart failure such as (not exhaustive):
Investigation
NTproBNP/BNP; and
Echo.
Prescriptions
Diuretics (metolazone, furosemide, bumetanide, torasemide, Bendroflumethiazde; and
ACEi / ARNI / BB / MRA (and combinations thereof).
Symptoms
Breathlessness (including young people with unexplained breathlessness e.g. post viral infection);
Fatigue; and
Sign - oedema.
Admissions to hospital
Heart failure admissions;
STEMI/NSTEMI – possible lost to follow-up post admission and/or no repeat echo;
Cardiac procedures (CRT/ICD);
Acute kidney Injury;
Hypertension;
Diabetes; and
Atrial fibrillation/flutter.
