Symptoms can be vague and non-specific.
 

Even if there seems to be a clear explanation of symptoms, heart failure may still be a co-morbid diagnosis.

So, if no improvement in symptoms after intervention and the listed symptoms are present then consider doing a NT-proBNP.
Symptoms
  1. Breathlessness – including a change in exercise intolerance;
  2. Unexplained Cough;
  3. Lower leg oedema;
  4. Fatigue;
  5. Orthopnoea;
  6. Paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnoea;and
  7. Non-specific frailty (e.g. difficulty with activities of daily living).
